Record Shop Stories takes its first trip Stateside, with guest writer Kadrian Alvarenga revealing the vision behind one of Southern California’s best vinyl cafes
Man, this is awesome. But like, really awesome. I feel like jumping on a plane right now! Kadrian’s comprehensive and detail-rich overview made me feel like I was right there. Above all, the love and dedication Jo and Mars are putting into it shine through like the brightest of stars.
as always, you're too kind, andres! Jo and Mars are the real rock stars here, but you would be welcome to come visit LA and go on a record store crawl anytime!
Thanks for the comment, Alan, and welcome! There are worse places to be than a record store, with coins burning holes in your pockets 😊. Getz and Gilberto is a pretty cool first album too…
My first Album was Getz/Gilberto in the late fifties/early sixties? I had a paper route and the coins burnt holes in my pockets. Now, I am 77-1/2 years + 1 day and I listen to YouTube. It ain't Vinyl, exactly, but it sounds like Music. Must be something in my headspace, ya'know?
I wonder how much his Jorge Ben is priced at? And, is it an og 'Africa Brasil'?
Sounds like Asteroid is the place to be. The world needs more Asteroids!
Couldn’t have said it any better

Yeah it’s quite a skill that… making the 5.5k-mile distance from the UK to LA shrink to almost nothing, just by reading about it…
